I would be curious to know what percentage of AI customers on Cozumel are there to dive. Judging from the activity I have seen around their piers (or the lack of it), I would hazard a guess that it's a pretty low number.

During our meeting with Secrets management in January, we were told that only 8% of their guests are divers. I suspect what he really meant was that only 8% of their guests dive with the on site operations. His tone in my opinion (shared by others) was very condescending towards divers.

There was a lot of noise coming out of both sides of his mouth - self contradiction, stumbling - no solutions, only excuses. We offeredmany solutions that included keeping the fee if that's what they need, but with a different system.

ANOATT Cozumel will be a valuable asset on the Cozumel dive scene. Dive ops and divers should not be taken advantage of by this resort or any other venue. Only by sticking together will our interests as divers be served.

Really don’t know what the big deal is. This has been done in the past where each person using the Secrets pier not using the local vendors paid the $2 fee. Been using the Secrets pier for over 10 years. This past Apr – May, 20 days of using the Secrets pier for pickup and staying at Residencias Reef informed by management at Residencias Reef and others on this site prior to arrival to purchase the bracelets from the security shack at Residencias Reef. Well found out by my dive op – they just purchased multiply bracelets like the ones for the Marine Park fee from Secrets or whoever gives them out. So, they just added the $2 fee to my diving each day and each time at drop off after my diving someone from Secrets was there to collect the correct number of bracelets for the divers getting off the boat. An additional $40 US for 20 days of use of the Secrets pier isn’t going to break me when I consider the total cost of my vacation. No inconvenience to me and how is it different from a dive op having to go and purchase the Marine Park bracelets? If it affects your bottom line then you can always just wade out to the boat with your gear to save the $2. Seen folks do it in the past. Not sure if this is still the practice since my last visit in May.

You're being way too reasonable. If everyone was like you we'd have nothing to argue about.

We did the wade out to the dive boat when picked up by Aldora in front of Paradise condos south of town. I was worried about my dive gear getting wet but it seemed to be ok.

I'm confused. A boat was picking you up. Where were you going? To have a formal breakfast/lunch with the president in a bathing suit?

We were headed to Palancar Gardens to do a wall dive.

So when you splashed for Palancar Gardens, did your dive gear get wet? :)
