I had noticed that alright: nobody talks about Seac here, but all European stores carry it. In any case, cheapest I found was 377. On Amazon (no special warranties here) it's 600.

I think at the moment it's the most economical option for WAI and compass and watch size. If it's $77 over Goa, I'd say it's a contender. And I'm not sure what Goa/Newton have for log download: for ones that don't come with USB or BT built-in, it's typically a $100 extra.

Given the failure reports, lack of extra warranty is a downer though...

The Seac Guru=Ratio iDive Sport Easy appears to be a nice computer. Runs Buhlmann ZH-L16B with 6 preset GFs (93/93, 90/90, 80/80, 75/75, 30/90, and 20/89). Optional AI. The regular list price appears to be $599/$948 with transmitter, not inexpensive.

There are things that are only ever available at MSRP. This is not one of them.

In Canada that goes for us$150 more than the Goa if bought from an international shop. Amazon would make it worse, plus 30-day warranty only. I checked the broken button reports and they exist in reasonable numbers alright. A pity, because that thing seems to have a million functions. It's beyond my budget, but I would have gone for it.

OP is asking about differences between Cressi Newton and Goa, however, people keep suggesting other computers. I am thinking whether people do not know how to read or are not able to comprehend the text. Anyway, I have Cressi Newton and used 100% of its functions (e.g. used 2 gases, went into deco and etc.). You already looked at manuals and see that GOA has freediving mode (Newton does not have). GOA is smaller and can be used as a daily watch.... Newton is bigger. I am using Newton as my watch during my diving vacation. You can replace Newton battery by itself. Of battery is flooded, watch remains intact.

2 gases you might use if you have a deco dive (e.g. dive with air or nitrox and do deco with anothe gas.... e.g. EAN50). I am very happy Newton user and definitely recommend it to others as this is a cheap dive computer who has many features and could be used even by technical divers. Also, Newtion has capability to download all you dive profiles into computer and analyse it there. If you have any questions, fel free to ask me.

Thank you for the testimonial. I am OK with tips about other brands too, I tried to narrow down my search in order not to give people the old "which computer should I buy" post, but in truth I have never had one of those before (just rented a Zoop once and hated it) and am learning a lot here.

About the Cressi Newton: is it true the buttons are too hard to press? Have you had the battery flooded before?
When compared to other people diving with you, do you feel it is really more conservative and it's forcing you to ignore some of its alerts?
Thanks!

No, buttons are pretty easy to press. Did not have any issues with that during dives. Also, very easy to change gases during the dive (you might need this is you get involved into tech diving with decompression). Regarding conservativism: many dive computers in the market run on RGMB algorythms (with different variations). From practical point of view in recreational diving all computers show similar NDL time. I saw somewhere in internet NDLs comparisons based o depth and time of more than 10 popular dive computers. All of them run similarly.

Even if you compare with tech computers like Shearwater Perdix. I did wreck diving to 35 m depth. We had agreement in the group that we will start ascending when first person in the group will have 5 min NDL. When I ascended my divemaster told me that his Perdix showed 9 min NDL time when I had 5 min NDL time.

No, I never had flooded battery. I did maybe 60 dives with my Cressi Newton. Deepest dive was 45 m deco dive. Computer was properly working and battery indicatos shows that at least 50% of battery is still remaining. When you change battery, you have to buy special set which includes o-ring as well.

As I told before I definitely recommend Cressi Newton as it is quite cheap, reliable and really good computer.
