PLB1 battery contains < 2g of Lithium, which is allowed to be put in checked bag. Just put it in your checked bag to avoid hassle with uninformed TSA.

What happened?
Nothing. I never mentioned I had a GPS when asked. I didn't mention the one on my phone and on my camera. The issue is stand-alone GPS units....so if pushed, I would have had to to argue that GPS is embedded yes, but it is not the primary purpose of the Nautilus nor the camera, and the VHF radio in the Nautilus is not its primary purpose either. I risked having the Nautilus taken away from me. Nothing happened, it was neither seen, nor mentioned, nor asked about.
Here is what the Know-Before-You-Go of Aggressor says about the Cuba trip:

So does the new nautilus not need a dive case?

Unless you want to dive deeper than 425 feet with it. :D

I'm looking at mine. It has pretty stout case to store 2 CR123 batteries + lid for covering electronic about the size of my thumb nail & a scroll of a foot long antenna that's it.

So what would be the purpose of picking the Plb1 over the nautilus then?

They are different tools. One is intended for short range (nautilus) and the other goes to a satellite and then to SAR teams hopefully (plb1)
Ah ok my misunderstanding. So if I was doing say a shore dive the nautilus would serve a good purpose. If I was doing a boat dive I’d be more inclined to have the plb1?

Sorry for the noob questions. I am just that. A noob in this field. So trying to figure out what i need

When you are in the middle of no where with no boat around 360 over the horizon, then it’s time to launch the big gun, sending 5 watts 406 MHz signal to hundreds of miles to LEOSAR & MEOSAR and thousands of miles to GEOSAR.
