A PMV *is* a check valve, you don't need 2 before

If this was not in a box, didn't have to be put away after use I would agree. With my certain setup I will pull it out of the shop, out of the box, connect the filter tower and start pumping. I have to do the reverse when putting it away, so the tower will get disconnected. My hope is to leave as much under pressure as possible (all but the hose really).

It will look more like PMV > quick disconnect > hose > check valve > filter tower > PMV.

Won't work. The air between PMV1 and the check valve will be under pressure and you won't ever be able to disconnect the QD.

I will have to install a "T" with a bleeder before the check valve. Thanks, I didn't realize the QD wouldn't come undone under pressure.

Can anyone tell me the difference between these 2 gauges? I plan to get most of my stuff from August Industries (they seem to have the best prices overall), except maybe the gauges. Amazon has what "looks" like the same gauge for less than 1/2 the price. Both are oil filled.

I know the one on Amazon is a plastic face. I'm assuming the one at August is glass (I sent them an email asking).

Any recommendations here?

There is no way you can push the connections back into each other under that much pressure. Think about how hard it is to break an air tool QD when it's under pressure at 8bar. If you just finished filling, you'll be at 250bar, 30x as much pressure. It's not going to go. If it does go, it's going to be really dangerous as that much energy is released instantly.

You need liquid filled on anything physically mounted to the compressor to take care of vibrations. The ones on the filter stack don't really matter. Cheap gauges are fine for this since it doesn't really matter how precise the fills are unless you're doing PP blending. I have one of these on the whips themselves that are super accurate, but everything else on the system is cheap analog.

I find myself going back through and reading replies and catching things I missed before, lol. It will have a bleeder.

I plan to have a Nitrox stick, but PP blending for higher mixes isn't out of the question either. As for gauges I would have one at the coalescers (liquid filled), one on the tower (can be dry), and probably a fancy digital like you linked before the whips.
 
You can start out trying to keep it cheap and simple but in the end you will end up with most or all of what I have. hehe

And your setup is sweet! I'm sure I'll get there one day.

If I floated pictures of your setup at my house my wife would divorce me, lol. It wouldn't even be a question. She would just leave:rofl3:

Edit: just for whips, PMV's, fittings, gauges, hoses, etc. I'm looking at another $600 easy. Not having to drive 3 hrs round trip for fills will make it worth it though.

You don't need 7500psi gauges. 0 to 5000 are way more legible and going to be more accurate in the range you actually use.

not necessarily true on the accuracy. The 5000 psi gauges are going to be most accurate from ~2000-3000psi. The 7500's will be most accurate in the ~3000-4000psi range. Most of my bottles are filled in the 3500-4000psi range and banks to 4500-5000psi. 5000's are certainly easier to read, but I have digital gauges on the whips for that.
