On a local dive boat I was surprised that out of 12 divers there were 3 Perdix and 1 Petral and 1 Peregrine, max depth was 28M and all 5 on Nitrox 32% , I had one of the 5. Only 1 had a pony cylinder [big boy] , and only 1 camera which was a surprise also.
There are more divers using Shearwater then I suspected.
If you do travel to other foreign diving destinations on your own ie not with your local group or buddies. Take a look at the dive computers that others used. You might have better chance to see a few if on expensive LoB.

And what is the relevance of that?

The OP is based in Australia and was wondering about the presence of Shearwater in Australia - not foreign diving destinations!

You mentioned 50%.
The presence of Shearwater among all active divers(400,000) in your country is never anywhere near that number. It might be in your local boat/group but does it applies to the whole nation?

I did not say I know all the divers in NSW!

Oh! 50% of the divers that you personally know. That is a slight difference. :)

Perhaps you should have asked them of they're regulars on Scubaboard. Heehee

Or were you on a tech dive?

I've been diving all over the world too and the only time I've seen a Shearwater(s) was on a Red Sea liveaboard and they were all on the wrists of the Ontario, Canada dive shop owner and his people.

I have cold water tech diver friends who have them as well, but we don't dive together. Cold water, brrrrr

Did not ask about ScubaBoard, I try not to talk too much on dive boats, just watch and listen, 2 were talking tech talk, you know ,gear, gas mixes, places and dives they had done etc etc, switch off, all the usual, 2 were Asians and had all the "toys", all Scubapro gear except the computers 1 Shearwater 1 with Scubapro G2 to match the gear. My buddy was the large dude with the pony cylinder, did not know him from bar of soap, told me how often he dives, cashed up and does double dives a couple of days a week [weather permitting], good diver, we left each other alone, arrived at the deco stop [call it a safety stop] at he same time, all good.
So 5 Shearwater and 1 Scubapro G2 , that's 6 out of 12 divers, all the others were the usual suspects that I could tell, could be more.

I travel all over the world and have my Shearwater

This happened during pre-COVID period, right?
