nope never, hate em. There will be one in my gear bag for use during SI but not while diving.
 
I think Peter Guy made sense in the other thread when he noted that snorkel use may be somewhat location dependant.

Very true. So often the key bit of information missing in any scubaboard post is diving location/condition and type of diving. What is absolutely right in one case is totally wrong in another. We use to have a standard answer in the army when talking about almost any problem or tactical solution. The answer was ‘Its situational dependent.’
