Sheepshead are one of my favorite fish to hunt. My question is have any scuba divers in the area seen them on wrecks deeper than 50 ft. ? Based on the limited research that I have done, they are not a migratory species. If this is true, then were do they go when the water gets cold- below 55 degrees in the winter? I have never seen them in MD or VA on any wrecks deeper than 30 ft. The only thing that I can come up with is that they head out into really deep water closer to the gulf stream.

Don't know about that area, but down in SW Florida I see them at 60' routinely, around reefs/structure.
