Same here. A pair of old medium weight dress socks cured the irritation I used to get on my heels.
 
I always wear booties with open foot fins even in the tropics. I was diving in Fiji with closed foot fins that were too small and they really tore up the skin on my heel which became infected. I always travel with Cipro and it cleared up the infection quickly.
