Hello,
I saw the recent thread on diving Little Cayman in January. What about November, around Thanksgiving? Is there still the issue of likely rough conditions that would prevent diving of the Bloody Bay Wall?

Thanks.

I'm sorry but the answer to that is "maybe yes" and "maybe no" the summer storm and hurricane season ends by late November but the winter winds may be kicking up.

We were on LC two years ago earlier during November and we dived the South Side the first day but then were able to dive the North side (Bloody Bay Wall and Jackson's Bight) for the rest of the week. It was a little rough at first but then it calmed down. The vis wasn't the best ever but it was good, we had a great trip.

I can't remember who suggested this but it was a good suggestion. Take a look at the Cayman Aggressor's Captain's Log files from years past for around the same week(s) that you will be traveling to learn about the historical conditions. The Aggressor makes the crossing to the Sister Islands about 75% of the time, but they stay around Grand Cayman when the crossing is likely to be rough.

Below are links around Thanksgiving last year. They made the crossing 1 out of 3 weeks - but it was calm and gorgeous during that week (Nov 24) - so it depends.

Monitoring the captain's logs gives you a nice snapshot of the historical weather conditions, that still doesn't mean that the land-based dive ops were not able to dive the BBW during the weeks when the Aggressor stayed on GC. During our trip 2 years ago, the Aggressor didn't make the crossing that week but we dived BBW and Jackson's Bight most of the week.

Trust that the dive ops will find the best diving available for their guests, and the South Side of LC is very good diving, it's just not as spectacular as Bloody Bay Wall.

Photos posted for November could have been taken at any time.
LC is a bit of a risk in November. Diving the south is OK but not like Bloody Bay.
If we are diving in the Caymans November-December, we go to Grand as the West Side sites are sheltered and IMO, much better than the South side of LC.
Every time we have been to LC and had to dive South, we have been disappointed.
