If you want to go out with a bang, get yourself banned.
You cannot delete your account, because it really screws up the database when you are deleted. I can change your name and login so that you will no longer be able to login, nor will your board name show up, although a name will be associated with your account and if you come back lurking and know where to look you will see your posts. How do I unsubscribe from SB all together. I and several others want to know.
Last but not least, you cannot claim that deleting an account screws the database, when deleting posts for 'moderation' doesn't do the same.
As for the reason to delete the account, one of my posts was deleted in a recent thread, and that post was only linking a newspaper article freely available on the web. I do not take censorship lightly, so goodbye. .
I'm not here to argue with you, as I have no idea who you are nor do I care. Posts may be deleted. If an account is deleted, it screws up the way entire threads (and the board) are indexed. Now, I know as much about running a bulletin board as I do trading commodities in Chicago, which is nothing, but Pete tells us that accounts are not to be deleted because all of the threads that that account has posted in will cause the board to reindex them. I have no idea what reindex involves, nor do I care. I have seen the results of a single account deletion in the 20 years I've been here, and it took a month for the board to stop throwing us error messages.Last but not least, you cannot claim that deleting an account screws the database, when deleting posts for 'moderation' doesn't do the same.
