I do and love both freediving and scuba diving, just not on the same day. I personally think that breathing at depth while freediving is not a good idea. I would just work on my fitness and technique. With a bit of practice you should be able to do a 40 foot dive with a minute bottom time if...
I have the same setup and am over the moon with it. Just used a friends mk25/A700 set on a trip and I am not impressed. I think my s600 performs better.
Congrats you are going to love it.
Wish I had seen this before, I have just done 20 dives with my brand new Meridian and guess what... This morning out presenting a course my battery dies on me, no dive mode. At least with my suunto I got ample warning before batteries died. I am not impressed.
That depends on how deep and for how long the dives are. If I am going to do 2 dives to 12m for example I would fly in 12 hours no problem. If I do 2 deep dives close to ndl times I would not.

Only a pleassure. Cooler that time of the year with water temperatures probably around 24 / 25 Celsius where in summer it would be more around 28 so I would say a 5mm suit would be my choice. Malaria risk is also lower that time of the year but it is like always something to be aware of and...
Tofo is busy most times of the year and yes late December it is an absolute madhouse. If you are looking for tranquility it is not the place and the time. Out of season it is awesome. Much quieter yet there is always boats going out doesn't matter what time of the year and the diving is...
Yeah fair enough. I am talking about the exception rather than the rule. If you happen to forget your card that option is there. I agree that a card is the easiest way. All I am saying is that it should not keep you from diving if you do forget it or in a situation where you unexpectedly need...
I don't get why people (staff)make things so difficult at the dive shops. Why do they not just do online checks? Just as easy. If I forget my cards and they refuse to let me dive I would be a really miserable customer...

I have been diving for years with only an spg on my regs. Compass I carry seperately depending on where I dive (wrist fit) and wrist computer of course. Much easier for me, no bulky heavy and unnecessary instruments hanging around

Mermaids is a good option but check in advance. They do not do daily trips down there any more. Also depends on demand.

I would be keen as well. Have not done any diving in cape town but a regular visitor to aliwal shoal and sodwana. Count me in.

Why in a cage? Umkomaas dive lodge just south of Durban do shark dives, no cage. Divers hang at around 10meters on a bar and check out raggies, tigers etc. For the great white experience you would prob have to go the cape town area but as far as I know this would all be caged dives. I stand to...
If you are not getting a dive computer I would suggest a ERDPML, electronic tables on which you can plan multi level dives, dive comp is first prize but as far as I am concerned this is the only other option that is very safe
Done my owsi internship in pattaya thailand with mermaids dive centre. Very high standards competetively priced and very professional guys. check out the website.

For now it could probably sound like a lot of money but as soon as you have hit dm or instr level and want to work in the dive industry you will be wondering why diving is so cheap....
