Does the EON Steel actually really calculate the desat time? The only computers i know that really calculate desat and no-fly-time (=deco cleared at cabin pressure, about 0.7bar) instead of just showing some numbers are the H&W OSTC models.
And on topic: Just fly. After the dives you mentioned...
As others have stated: No. The boat needs 30-36 hours each way. I guess you could charter a Seaplane or a big (ex-military) helicopter that has the range to go the 500km (or was it nautical miles?) back and forth. But that would be even more expensive.
Until a few years ago i had a rec computer.. (Scubapro Meridian i believe.. not sure anymore) and i'm pretty sure that one displayed TTS as well.
I'm also convinced that it's way less stressful for the tissues if you do really slow ascents with or without mandatory deco compared to the usual...
I use a backup on dive trips, especially when it's a liveaboard so there's no access to spare parts. One is an OSTC 2 and one is an OSTC Sport, both set to 60/75. In case of a partial gas loss i can switch to more aggressive GFs on the OSTC 2.
I'll never get people's fear of deco... i actually very much prefer a few minutes of light real deco followed by a very slow ascent over the typical "near-zero-NDL, then safety, then plop up instantly from 5m". I use 50/75 on my OSTC and went into deco on several dives on a recent trip.. only...
Did anyone see the (apparently new) Brinyte (or is it NiteSun now?) DIV20S anywhere? I found some pictures (while searching for another light..) and it looks really interesting. Nice large-ish battery tank with what looks like 9x 18650, the Goodman looks quite nice and the switch seems to be on...
I just received a brand new DIV10. Got it for 90€ from gearbest (about $US 104 atm).
My old one died after about 3 years and, i guess, about 150 dives. The cable broke internally, very close to the head.
Since it's all glued down and potted it was impossible for me to repair.. or rather, i...
Those Clamps are fine. I use similar ones. Just put one part of the glove/o-ring into the groove and clamp it down. Work your way around the ring and after a few cm clamp down there as well. Now you pull the O-Ring into place on the other side. It may still slip and it's still a pain to do, but...
The spring (and maybe some other stuff) is coated with some kind of plastic on the EVO Models. That's the blue stuff you see on pictures.
It's supposed to prohibit ice buildup on the spring.
No idea if it actually works, but for cold water i'd go for it over the non-evo.
Have two Mk25 Evo with...
Well yes, of course... but when it comes to safety regulations and/or standard signals most things are regulated on a federal level (or even on an EU level nowadays). :)
The alpha flag is also the official flag/sign in the US. It's used by the US Navy etc. The red/white flag does not have any official meaning at all.
Guess it's just you americans and your weird systems... like using bats*** crazy imperial instead of metric like the rest of the world. :)
Yes, it'll fit. Allmost all HP Hoses are 7/16" UNF and almost all LP Hoses are 3/8" UNF (there are some 1/2" around, but not for scubapro and it's rather exotic anyway).
According to a female friend of mine, it makes a difference, since the regions (chest and hips) that differ the most from men are cut differently.
But i'd just go with a BP&W, since a normal simple Harness doesn't even touch those areas.
@chrisch: Mhm.. strange. I believe the table you linked might be wrong... every other source i could find lists ISO 24801-3 / DIN EN 14153-3 (Dive Leader)
== PADI/SSI/NAUI DM
== CMAS ***
== FFESSM Niveau 3 or 4.
But who knows what those French are up to. :)
Sorry, but that's wrong. OWD and AOWD are both FFESSM Level 1 or CMAS *. Rescue Diver is Level 2 / ** and DM is Level 3 / ***. The FFESSM also knows a Level 4 that doesn't really exist in other CMAS Branches and has no PADI Equivalent as well. As a DM/*** you can "apply" for that afaik.
