    Wreck locations

Ghost - I know this is an old thread, but have you checked into the local area? I guess it would all depend on what you are looking for in regards to penetration. The Cedarville (Straits of Mackinac) is a nice wreck. However, it is big, it is silty and you can get easily lost if things aren't...

    Basics of Ice Diving

Alright... I take offense to the "girly girl" comment (grin). Some of us ice dive, so diver down can't be in our club! (hmmm.... where does that put you then?) Parrothead's right! You're in Canada! Temps not much worse than the summer and the view can be amazing! I do have to agree...

    2010 Currents

I was reading the post of the bouys coming off of Mackinac. I noticed you guys had some pretty good currents running this year. There was one point where the currents were running in opposite directions within 5 feet. (Have to admit, it made for a pretty nice drift dive). Although it's...

    Munising Diving?

    How was the munising trip?

    Straights of Mac, Michigan

It depends on what you are looking for when camping. The Straits State park is nice... If you're traveling with kids, the KOA is set up for that (mini golf, swimming pool, game room, and a convenient tourist trap right next door). the Teekee campground (sp?) is, well, cheaper... I don't know...

    What can YOU teach me?

Can't believe no one has listed the Great Lakes yet! (or maybe I missed it). It is pretty much also a "you are on your own" diving atmosphere unless you're tying up to a wreck with some other boats. Water temp is, well... cold... (thermoclines can be your best friend) and Viz can depend on...

    Dunderberg Death

I understand from other reports that he was unresponsive and not breathing. In this situation, what is the lesser of two evils? If they were in deco, does the other diver miss his stops?

Diver Dies in Lake Huron on the Dunderberg

It is a guess of "what was the lesser of the two evils". A decision, that hopefully, I will never have to make. Anyone that has been diving for a while knows that things can go very bad very quickly under water, so I hope this doesn't turn into a "what should have been done" or "he was a bad...

    Gloves

Thanks guys! I am pretty interested in the Northern Dive Gloves.

    Gloves

My Henderson Gold Core finally need to be retired after this weekend. Any suggestions? I dive exclusively in the Great Lakes, depths up to 170', and hate mits. Has anyone tried the "semi-dry" gloves and how do they hold up to the zebra muscles? A few years ago, the hubby bought an expensive...

    Walter B Allen Video

Thank you for sharing. It is one of my all-time favorites and now I'm just itching for a trip. Better be nice to the hubby this week... GRIN

Thanks as always for everything that you guys do.

    Upper Michigan ?

Charles Bart: If you get the chance, you should try it sometime. It's really not all that bad. Many of us dive in wetsuits year 'round (including ice dives). Anywhere you go in the Great Lakes, you'll find something incredible. From diving the wrecks in the Straits, to Pictured Rocks in...

Bay of Green Bay Wrecks Bouyed

Just a quick update for anyone out there that dives Marinette/Menominee/Door Peninsula area... The Jenibell, Mayqueen and Brown have bouys. The Jenibell and Mayqueen are a bit silty, but the Brown is absolutely BEAUTIFUL. From the bow, you can see both masts. It was a wonderful day Saturday....

Ladies: Modesty during diving or technical diving

Ber Rabbit - that's the key!!! I cannot remember all of the times that I've squated over the side, front, back of the boat and no one ever noticed. The only time I was caught was when I didn't realize that someone was still in the cabin of the boat that was tied up next to us. I said "hi", he...

I know there are no stupid questions but.....

Personally, I don't think that there is a problem with logging any dive that you do. As I've experienced in classes, there is always some confusion in this area. The original book that they are given has entries for pretty much anything you can imagine but limited space for personal entries...

    "What if ..?"

Funny... Haven't found myself on this site in forever and the first thread I look at is 37 pages long (and as usual, I'm late again, but putting my two cents in anyway)... I can, without any doubt, say that I would stay. Any buddy, any time. That being said, I don't believe the question...

    Best Lake Michigan Wrecks?

You guys have all mentioned excellent dive sites. Maybe I missed it, but my favorite is the Walter B. Allen. Simply beautiful. I noticed that Door County was mentioned but nothing about the Bay of Green Bay in Menominee, MI. Not that photo ops are a great thing there, but there are some...

    Great Lakes, Great Treasures

VooDooGasMan - Sounds absolutely incredible! Hate zebra mussles.... Can't recall to many in Lake Superior and the viz is awesome there (but yes, lake Michigan is loaded)... I have to cast a vote for the Wisconsin wrecks.
