    Colorado Diving & Spearfishing

Thanks for the reply and I appreciate the information. I'm wanting to dive some of the recommended sites with good vis; Jefferson Lake and Officer's Gulch are two at the top, but I'm sure there are others. Don't know what to expect so I was hoping someone had done it.

    Colorado Diving & Spearfishing

Hi All, Just moved to Colorado (Lone Tree) and would like to do some diving and spearfishing. I'm cave and trimix certified, closing on a 1000 dives, and have all my gear; just need some high altitude divers! Thanks!

Best Time to Dive - Before or After Labor Day

I'm planning to be in the Seattle area for two months this year and my schedule is flexible. The question is, what happens to the availability of boat diving after Labor Day. I would expect it to slow down, as it does in Florida and California, with which I'm familiar, but having never been to...

    Dry Glove Questions

Follow up: The cheap rubber gloves are a success. The best ones I tried are the thickest ones (29 mil), but they still allow plenty of dexterity. I got them at Grainger, and they are latex so they are very stretchy and I can put them on after I've suited up. I just pull them up to a point...

    Royal Davui Island Resort

I spent a night a Royal Davui Island since I was in Fiji and it was recommended to me by a friend. For a special occasion or just for a secluded and romantic getaway it’s definitely worth it. I was picked on time by the Royal Davui’s shuttle boat and met by the managers (Julie and Darryl) on the...

    DUI Underwear Alterations

I have a DUI 400g Thinsulate jumpsuit that I want to alter. I called DUI and they do not do it nor do they have any recommendation on who should. Does anyone have any experience on what to look for in a qualified tailor? What are some of the issues that were encountered? Any...

Progressive Penetration vs. Running a Line

I used to be in the "always run a line" camp, but I've backed off of that and will do "progressive penetration" as well. It's situation specific. Sometimes vis is excellent and silting is only a problem in some parts of the wreck. Sometimes you can hold a handrail all the way in the questionable...

Name your best or favorite wreck dive

All wrecks in Truk. The San Francisco Maru because it has the most intact artifacts of any ship in Truk (that I've seen). The Shinkoku Maru becuase of it's spectacular engine room and coral covered surface. The Aikoku Maru for all its bones that make you stop and think.

    Getting to Truk Lagoon.. How??

I've got 6 weeks in Truk spread over 4 trips and every time there has been a problem of some sort. I'm Platinum Elite on Continental so I've never had a luggage issue, but other have. Missed connections have also happened to others on the trips because of weather or mechanical problems. If you...

Diving the Aiokoku Maru - Truk Lagoon - Advice

I've been over the mid ship where bones are piled up like campfires and I've also been in the engine room with 7 complete skeletons including the foot stuck to the 55 gallon drum. It's intense and moving. It's also dark and deep and there is a lot of twisted metal to go through to get there. The...

    Nitrox - 1.40 or 1.60 PO2?

I do the same and keep 1.4 as a deco limit. I'd rather water down my back gas and pay the piper at the hang bar.

    Nitrox - 1.40 or 1.60 PO2?

All the PO2 limits need to be taken in context. If you're doing recreational dives and are not always at 1.4 you *should* be fine based on statistics. However, O2 tolerance varies by person and by the same person on different days. Medications, exertion, physical fitness, CO2 loading, stress...

Re-using air from BCD in dire emergency?

I've also tried breathing from my BC just as part of my emergency "bag of tricks." I thought about it in case of a "out of air" situation on a deco dive where all you had was your deco gas and needed to get to your first stop. Not that it has ever happened or will, but thinking about stuff like...

    Dry Glove Questions

This is experimental. I have 6.5mm wet gloves, but I don't like them. I've read posts online and nothing seems to be a perfect solution for dry gloves especially with Zipseals. I'd rather try something cheap than spend big $ on another piece of dive gear I don't like. I may decide to get the...

    Dry Glove Questions

Thanks for the opinions. I tried some thin latex gloves (used for household cleaning) from the hardware store and just taped them in place since they stretch over the existing Zipseal tightly and just need to be held there. I can even put them on after I've suited up although the taping is more...

    Dry Glove Questions

Hi All, I have a DUI CF200 drysuit with the Zipseals and I wanted to add dry gloves, but there seems to be nothing that allows a direct attachment to the Zipseals other than to buy DUI gloves for a ridiculous price. I've read some of the posts on dry glove attachment systems and done some...

    Oleanda Liveaboard Marshall Islands

I know the previous managers of the Oleanda and they did a great job, but since they left the operation has declined.

    Chuuk Lagoon Liveaboard

Odyssey! Hands down. I've been on it 3 times and it is the only way to do Truk in my opinion. I've never been on the Thorfinn, but people I know who have did not like it. All dives are done from the Odyysey (no small boats) and they will rig you with doubles, a high Oxygen deco mix, and will let...
