CO non-stop EWR-CUN for Oct 7-16th is $220 pp (around $318 w/ tax). I've been watching it for 2 wks and it's still available. Unfortunately I can't get away before the 10th and no other date combos I'm trying for Oct after the 10th are even close.

There are several great hotel deals for October on Orbitz and Expedia too. It's KILLING me to have to pass, but hopefully someone else in the NYC area who doesn't mind doing "the bag drag" could take advantage of this great deal. :cool2:

How reliable is ferry from Playa Del Carmen to Cozumel? I heard that sometime it is cancelled and not only because of hurricanes but also due to strong northern winds. How often does it happen? Have anybody being stuck in Playa Del Carmen with hotel booked in Cozumel?

The ferry is extremely reliable. There are cancellations in rough sea conditions, but they're fairly rare, and almost never for all day. I use the flights to Cancun, bus and ferry fairly often and have never missed a connection.

The only suggestion I have is that you watch the weather for the day of your return, and if rough seas or an El Norte are predicted, you consider going over to Playa the last day and evening.

If you have the time and aren't diving the last day anyway, you might plan your trip this way in advance, reducing your worries about the ferry and having an evening in PDC which is always nice.

Almost all my trips to Cozumel are via Cancun. We've done the trip in all seasons over several years and I have never had a trip where the ferry wasn't running.

It takes quite a bit weather wise to shut it down. Short of a hurricane or near hurricane and maybe an unusually severe norte, it's running. Very few if any days in the year that the harbor master will shut down ferry service.
