Made in China is all you need to know to know it is not as it seems, sorry just too much experience with the crap that comes out of that country

no way thats 7 orf 8mm--thats 12mm(1/2 inch) at least

7mm is what used to be called in the "old days" a 1/4 inch wetsuit. Strictly speaking 7mm is slightly thicker than 1/4 inch.

Here are the details:

0.25 in = (0.25 in) x (2.54 cm / 1 in) x (10 mm / 1 cm) = 6.35 mm

and

7 mm = (7 mm) x (1 cm / 10 mm) x (1 in / 2.54 cm) = 0.28 in

Or, you can just use the knowledge that 1in = 25.4mm and divide the 7mm by 25.4 to get equivalent inches (multiply inches by 25.4 to get mm since the conversion of cm to mm is just moving the decimal one place). You added an unnecessary step to your calculation (although technically it is correct) so 7mm x (1in / 25.4mm) = ~0.28 inches.
