Advanced Open Water Disappointment

I think it's interesting how many people on this thread talk about their perspective as an instructor, what works and what doesn't. I haven't seen much discussion or anyone ask a quesiton about what any newish divers on this thread think about how their training was conducted.

This thread seems like a great place for instructors to ask students (at least one) how they feel about different teaching methods, yet this hasn't happened.

It happened IRL. I always got feedback from my students as to what worked and what didn't. Of course, the real proof was in how well they dove and are they still diving.

Poll: Were you OW trained to standards?

When I started diving in 1966 we bought our gear. $99 for a tank, backpack and regulator. There was no such thing as rental gear. The shop owner told us to breathe normally and don’t hold your breath. That was all the instruction we got. Oh no SPG, no bcd, no depth gauge, and no octo.
