hi,

after a week of diving off Mabul I'm a little stumped as to what is also in the area to see? I only have a short amount of time before I need to be back in KUL for my flight home, but is there anything I can see in a day or two around the area after coming off the island? or is it better to just stay on the island then head back home?

I thought there were supposed to be some cool caves and such to be done back on Malaysian Borneo? And the orangutan sanctuary? Sorry probably too little too late.

Borneo and the orangutan sanctuary is pretty cool. Hike to the top of mount Kinabalu is amazing as well

yeah, they're all a little too far away unfortunately. when I booked my flights I didn't realise the issue with permits and diving on the actual island of Sipadan, if I reduce the time on Mabul I lose a valuable day at Sipadan :(

So anything that's not a day trip from Semporna is too far away.

going to the orangutan sanctuary will have to be the next trip (when I dive Layang layang!)

Sipidan can not be missed. Barracuda point is awesome

Sorry bracko, just not able to work up any sympathy for your plight. :)

haha... I know.

more drama. I extended the accommodation to find that they won't give me any more Sipadan permits.

grrrr!

Who you diving with on Mabul?

scuba junkies. I'm on my own so the 50% single occupency is a killer. I'd prefer to be staying somewhere better, but I'm not forking out another thousand plus USD.
