An old Timer Question

I found a patch at the bottom of my drawer from the 1970s with " The American Association of Certified Scuba Divers" on it. Anyone remember that organization?

I also think that I also had a membership card from them as well but it has been lost to time.

A quick google search shows it being created in 1976 in Connecticut. The current status is "forefeited", meaning it no longer exists.
