Since Doc is out diving.... finding more crystal skulls?
As if Doc wasn't famous enough (see the force fins website), he was featured in that goofy pre-Indiana Jones movie thing about "crystal skulls". I believe he left Roatan for New Orleans when they filmed Temptation Island there, but I digress.
Lita's Hole is named after Lita or Lita and Rob. They're two CoCoNuts from California and have visited often. Rob is the chief web guru for WSORC (the Whale Shark folks), Lita has a real job working for the Governator.
Two Tall Two Small refers to the sizes of four Coconut Trees that used to be on the shore there.
(Hey- I owned that property once when I was young!) The original species of Coconut palm largely died off due to that "yellowing disease" that swept theough the Caribbean, but other strains have been planted instead.
Cow and Calf, a dive site that few others than CoCoNuts get to, that was named for the two unusual rock formations that stand just offshore. They are 50 feet tall and are a result of pre-historic erosion, but there is a big one and a little one. This dive site is near Fort Cay Key where Mr. Bill built the airstrip and was once owned by Frederico Bloch, the President of TACA.
Newman's Wall, just in front of Fantasy Island Resort which was built by Albert Jackson, was the name of the original owners of the property that became CoCoView. When Mr. Bill placed the
Prince Albert 140 Nicaraguan tanker in front of CCV, he named it after Albert Jackson. Albert didn't get the obvious reference to the Bart Simpson telephone joke, humor dating back to when old ships were universally referred to as a "can".
Hey- you got Prince Albert in a tin can? Better let him out!
Coxen Hole was a reference to John Coxen... think Coxswain
There are indeed two different dive sites named
Hole in the Wall, and most never see the one on the far East end (South side), that is quite a squeeze.
Peter's Place, a West End dive site, was named after Peter Hughes- who got his start as a DM for Anthony Key Resort (AKR), back before they had a casino!
Milk Jug, a Northern dive site, was once buoy marked by just that!
Scutt's Slot is a tiny overhead environment a few yards away from Mary's Place.
Monkey-lala? That, kids, is a lizard.
