For the Snaps - Sorry about the larges from RS. Make sure the Lowes Snaps have SS springs.

That's what I'm concerned about. What quality SS should I get? Or, more importantly, what is the minimum quality SS.

You can beat these prices at most hardware stores in either stainless or brass.

You can also check Pet store's for replacement snaps.

Also check west marine or US Marine. They are a little more $$, but good marine SS

Lowe's does sell SS snaps. I've bought a bunch at the one near me, and they've held up pretty well so far. They had single- and double-ended snaps in various sizes. Hopefully they had a chance to re-stock the mediums. I cleaned out the bin when I was there

I hear the brass ones have a tendancy to get sharp at the corners of the spring track; Have you noticed anything like that? I noticed it on some bronze ones I was using as a spare...
