How does one dive Antarctica?

What advanced training is required?

Is any special equipment required?

Hi there,

You need to have experience of diving in cold conditions but you don't need to be an ice diver. You also need to take suitable dive gear for cold water diving, including a dry suit with a hood, gloves, boots etc, but you don't need to take specialist equipment. Interestingly, there are a variety of areas you can dive around Antarctica and both the Plancius and Ortelius offer dive expeditions there and in the Arctic around Spitsbergen, plus occasionally Greenland.

It looks amazing doesn't it?! I wrote an article recently all about ice diving, which will answer your queries and gives you an overview of what's on offer at both destinations:

Ice Diving Essentials

Thanks,

Kathryn
