Before you consider a regulator for this role you need to look at the availability/cost of parts for that brand, regardless of model, in your proposed location.

No point in investing in Brand X, Model Y if local distributors cannot supply parts on time, or at all, or charge extortionately for them whilst Brand A, Model B is ten a penny and you can drive down to the distributor and pick up what you want, when you need.

That said, I would always recommend the simpler ATX for rental over the XL4.
 
Go for the ATX series.
They use the standard service kits from Apeks and they are very simple Butter good.
They are reliable in cold water and easy to breathe.
I used them in 5 degrees C. cold water below 40 m without an problems.

The XL4 uses same standard service kit, you just end up with a bunch of O rings left over.
