What is a "stroke"? (A n00b diver?)
An extremely rude and derogatory term meaning a diver who is unsafe to dive with because of an over-inflated ego - one who "strokes" their ego. However, the term is frequently applied tongue-in-cheek to a diver using any non-DIR equipment configuration.

Although, often used in good humor, there are those who wish the term was never used at all, and those who improperly use the term and mean it.

Re: Over-inflated egos: How can anyone consistently enter the worlds that we do as divers, and not come away with a true sense of humility, gratitude, and awe? I ask that rhetorically, of course...

Maybe I'll write a book entitled, "The Zen of Scuba Diving" :wink:
