I will be in the High Springs, FL area next month and was wondering if there were any areas open to solo diving. I know the state parks don't allow it. Are there any other areas that do? I'm mostly interested in diving springs and doing limited cavern penetration. I am cavern certified and the vast majority of my dives are done solo. I will be camping at Ginnie Springs and would like to find something within a reasonable driving distance.

Thanks,
Randy

Dunno the rules over at Paradise Springs(Ocala), Blue Grotto, or Devils Den, but they may be worth checking out. Alexander Springs is in the National Forest(Ocala), and they probably won't give a crap if you dive solo or not, but I'd check first.

Otherwise, you'll be stuck to off the beaten path springs, most of which will require a boat.

Devil's Den doesn't even let you dive doubles. I doubt they wouldn't kick you out if they saw you solo diving.

In that area, you're pretty much stuck with Ginnie Springs and Little River.

Thanks, I'll check out Little River. I've never dove there before. Does it have a large cavern area?

Alexander Springs allowed solo diving four years ago when I was there but that is farther south than I wanted to go on this trip.

Does anyone else have any ideas?

Thanks,
Randy

The cavern at Little River isn't as big as Peacock or Ginnie, but its definately worth a look.

Buford, can't believe I forgot about it, but its supposed to be the second largest cavern in FL. Its a bit of work to get to though - gotta do a hike through a swamp. Prolly to far south as well.
