A lot has been said about the DS4 and the reasons that technical divers use it, but I'm just a newbie rec diver. Would combining an ATX 50 with a DS4 be a good first rig for rec diving? Any thoughts on the pros and cons would be appreciated!

That is what I use for my singles rig (recreational diving.)

(And I have several more sets that are on my doubles for tech diving too)

That is the best choice you could possibly make IMHO.
