Some online systems like EBay and Amazon give lower costs or free listing services if you list over a certain threshold number of listings, but that only encourages more unrealistic listings to make the high quantity required. It is also why some vendors list the exact same item forty or fifty times, but the overpricing of items they haven't got anyway keeps their listing quantity high enough with less effort.
