Our thoughts are with all of you in Fla. Hope everyone comes through it safely. But, I also have a question. We do ( or did ) have a dive trip planned for Key Largo this weekend. Assuming Ernesto does not do tremendous damage, how bad will it mess up the diving (visibility) and for how long? Would it be best to just reschedule, with evacations and all or will things be somewhat back to normal by the weekend. Again hoping and praying that damage is minimal.

Thanks and be careful .

Keep a watch on the forum and you'll probably see an update on the waters post storm. Usually pretty mucky for a bit afterwards.

Thanks for the thoughts bro!

Good viz is probably going to be scarce...:11:

It's my experiences from the past 3 years of hurricanes it will take 2 days for the vis to come back. It will clear up on the reef line first, deeper reefs, then work it's way to the shallower ones.

If you're scheduled to come down this weekend you should be OK. That is if there is no damage to the infastructure. My suggestion is to watch here or try calling the dive shop you're scheduled to dive with. They should be able to let you know what the situation is.

We are planning on diving this weekend if the county is letting tourist in.

Good Diving,

Good Diving,

Oddly enough, last year after H. Dennis, the vis on the Busch was unlimited 2 days after the storm. The Atlantic storms seem to not muck up the vis too bad while the Gulf storms destroy it for a week or so.

That's some reassuring news! Our dive trip is planned for Sunday morning in Key Largo...that may be enough time for all that sand to settle. We've been looking forward to this trip so it will be great if we do not have to cancel!

Hey Rachel-

The stork track at the moment has it coming from yawl up to me via Everglades city brush by... that would be Carib, FL Bay then Gulf side storm :D

It's starting to get a little snotty out.

I'm not too concerned though, it shouldn't be much of anything.
