I live 2 blocks from another shop in LB that shall remain unnamed but I drive over to Mikes because of the great service. It isn't the biggest shop in the area but he has all you need and if he doesn't he will get it for you.

I went with pacific wilderness in San Pedro mainly due to the price ($289 for all the stuff needed for cert including a catalina trip except fins/gloves/boots/mask/snorkel).

I really like the shop and the staff, and they have their own pool.

Rakkis your advice helped, and thanks everyone else for your place suggestions, I checked into them and they were all nice places.
