Adding to this thread so that people will know that the Cheng Ho is still really awful. You pay for five star accommodations and get, at best, three stars. The boat is in terrible shape:
- torn upholstery
- mildew
- cockroaches
- outlets that don't work
The food was awful - if we weren't starving divers, no one would have eaten.
Add to the list the numerous safety violations, including no walkie talkies between the tenders and no satellite phone on the mothership. The worst part for me was when they left our dive group out in the open water for about 20 minutes. The second worst part was how the person who managed the emergency number couldn't speak English. So when my dog sitter called, no one could understand her let alone relay the message to the boat. (Thank goodness it wasn't anything dire.)
I will never dive Kararu again.
