My fiance n I are eloping on April 1st and going to this area for our honeymoon. I am a previously fairly advanced diver (100+ dives not so blue seas but its been a year n a half since last dive) I cant wait to get my fins on but this will be my fiance's first stamp on his passport and his most tropical experience was 10 yrs ago at disney discovery cove :D

Needless to say, I want him to go on a nice discovery dive so that he wants to learn to dive. He is excited to try it and definitely a gutsy guy (builds skyscrapers for a living)but a pleasant experience is still a must.

We are trying to figure out an all inclusive resort with a convenient, pleasant dive center preferably on the premises.

I've noticed alvaro from alwaysdiving and scorpio divers are both pretty good. do they cater to any particular resorts that anyone here thinks are pretty nice.

I am looking for a reasonably priced all inclusive ( doesnt need to be luxury) with a realible dive center somewhere in this area.
please any recommendations or places to avoid are very welcome.

Even eloping seems to be stressful, jeesh....

Neither Alvaro or Scorpio are affilitated with any particular resort. Both will work with you regardless of which resort you choose.

I can say that I've done OW, AOW and Rescue with Alvaro, Sue has done OW and AOW with him, and Kim has done OW with him. We've dove with him in Cancun, Playa del Carmen and Cozumel. We've done reef, wreck and cenote dives with him. He's absolutely top notch.

When we're in Cancun, we always stay at Temptation. It's an excellent resort. Fun, good food, wonderful beach.

If you really want the better diving, you should stay ON Cozumel. If you want a fancier, more modern, luxurious type honeymoon then stay in Cancun.

Most of the resorts on Cozumel tend to be rustic style. If that is what you want, then definitely go there.
I think the Allegro Cozumel might be what you are looking for in that regard. Their onsite dive op, ProDive, gets good reviews.

Allegro Cozumel Resort - Cozumel Allegro - Allegro Cozumel - All Inclusive Specials

I would book your trip through a Dive Trip specialist like Caradonna or Island Dreams. They can call and get you the best rates and packages.

Thanks guys. I am goingto call Alvaro at Alwaysdiving today and see what he would recommend.

Keep the opinions coming, I love knowing what I am getting into. :)

In the Playa Del Carmen area check out Thomas or Marcos at Dive Balm. Dive Balam is in the Royal Haciendes resort. Dove with them for a week in November and had a blast with them.

Heading to PDC in April & I was wondering which dive sites are a must see...too late to do a Shark dive :( but am up for almost anything else.

I've dove Cozumel & Cancun a few times and wanted to try the PDC/PM area - Any suggestions?

thanks!

Hi everybody,
you are looking for a nice AI resort not too fancy but still very nice?!?!?
Check out the hotels in the hotel area of Playa del Carmen.
Really nice hotels like the Sandos Playacar, the Iberostar or the RIU hotels.
About the diving...we can take care about you. We are a small dive operator specialized in personal service and small groups.
We work with maximum 4:1 ratio and during a course usually 1:1 max 1:2 ratio.

The advantage of staying in Playa is the central location. You can enjoy the best dives in Playa del Carmen, Cozumel and the amazing Cenotes are just around the corner.

If you want some more information please contact me directly.

Greetings

Many the operators do guided cavern dives in the cenotes--they're spectacular! The only problem is that you're liable to get hooked on the caves and keep coming back for more classes, buying more equipment...

My vote is for staying in Playa as well! You can't beat the central location with easy access to Cozumel, the cenotes, and Playa reefs. You are also centrally located for any ruins or parks that you want to visit.
Let me know if you have any questions!!
