What's the construction happening on Coco View's dock, right in front of the webcam? Are they just doing maintenance and upkeep, or adding more space, or what? I've seen new deck boards installed, and some new beams and joists, but don't know if that is new or just upgraded space.

More like re-construction. Elizabeth says they're replacing the pilings under that area. It's a major traffic choke point...everybody comes and goes right there if you're riding one of the little ferry boats (red boat/black boat) back and forth to the landing. Not everybody rides those, but enough to make that traffic zone under construction to require some fence barricades to keep us from falling in.

She mentioned that they're likely replacing the pilings under the Dockside Dive Center. Patty Grier, owner of that store, was up here in her old home town of Chicago last week for Our World Underwater. I had fun driving her to all of the places she had shopping lists for... MallWart, Sams, Costco, the Dollar Store... all the shopping highlights Chicago had to offer. If anyone can find her those Brownie Chip things that Sams used to have, bring her some and she will give you a big hug.

There she is now....

The pilings and top boarding were all replaced last week in front of the Dockside's door. The door was, of course, available by Friday but earlier in the week the employees entrance was the only way to the shop.

The area to the west of Dockside's door is still getting replaced.
