Hi Natasha,

Yes, the Aquacolor mask is the one I was talking about. I would like to try one to see if it is better colorwise than the Seavision. As for spitting in my mask, I don't usually do that, it just seems so uncouth. I think maybe the fogging has something to do with temperature, I can't think of anything else. I don't think it had anything to do with the mask because even though I did not have the fogging with the Ocean Master mask, I have had fogging with almost any mask I have used at one time or another regardless of the defog I used.

The fogging caused me some major problems though. It started at the beginning of a long shallow shore dive and I flooded my mask several times and then cleared it. Even though I closed my eyes while doing this the salt water burned my eyes (and I wear contacts) really bad. I didn't realize it but my eyes and sinuses began swelling and then I experienced a squeeze-not fun. It took an ice pack and sinus medication to reduce the swelling. So the next day I went with the Ocean Master purge mask and everything went well.

Laura

PS I think the Aquacolor ad folks need to add some men to the model of the month deal! I bet no one noticed the models weren't wearing the Aquacolor mask. Well one was wearing a mask, but it didn't look like an Aquacolor mask.

Laura,

Scrub your mask with soft scrub inside and out. After that, smear some dish soap in your mask the day before you go diving (2 weeks before is even better). Leave it in. Apply more just before getting in the water and rinse it out completely. Your mask shouldn't fog on you. Spitting in your mask can actually cause eye infections, your mouth has lots of germs you don't want near your eyes.

Thanks Walter,

I've never heard of that solution before, but I'll give it a try next time. I needed a better excuse not to spit anyway.

Natash,
The C-53 is around 80ft deep. If I remember the currents were quite strong getting down to it.

This is what I found for info on it. I dove with Dive Paradise but their page doesn't seem to come up anymore it just turns into some porn site that wont let you out.

Alison,

This is an ideal picture for another thread.

Are you in distress?

I didn't even THINK about that when I put the pic up.... yes, I am very distressed in that picture because my dive instructor has just told me that I have missed a 6m whale shark that swam behind me as I was gawking at the coral...

VERY DISTRESSED....

(LOL.... yeah, Laura - can you see my short neck? hah)
:)

As I just read through the whole mask-on-the-head thread - I was thinking the same thing!!!

Just to let you all know I was thinking the same thing!!!! LOL
