Hi all!

First of all, I'm new to this board and also sort of new to diving. I got my AOW PADI 10 years ago but since then I haven't done lots of diving. I did my last dive in Bali and now want to continue this hobby.

I don't own any diving equipment, therefore I'm thinking of buying the complete set.
The set I'm thinking of buying includes Oceanic Pro Plus 2 in it. I'm dying to get a Suunto Stinger as my back up computer.

I know that most people have their computer back up from the same brand because of the difference of the conservativeness between brands. And also most people have one analog (backup) and a computer. Can anyone tell me the disadvantages using 2 computers with 2 different brands? Or does anyone think it won't be problematic at all?

Thanks,
Raist

If you use the Stinger as a back up and violate it, it will "lock up" and be useless for the next 24 hrs..

If you don't own any gear now, don't buy a backup. Use a watch, plan your dives (with the dive tables) and understand that if your computer dies while down, you switch to your watch, and come up when the tables indicate.

You're going to spend enough $ now putting together your kit. Save the second computer $ to do more diving!

save your $$$, buy Oceanic Pro Plus 2 and for a backup use your head
dive safe

thanks for all your replies!! (have to refresh my memories on that diving table!!)
I'll think about it!
