Hi

I would like to move into wreck and deeper diving but also use the same gear for normal recreational shore and boat dives in Australia.

I am currently using:

hollis HTS 2 harness with backplate
hollis donut wing 27kg lift
twin faber 12.2 steelies on OMS din/yoke manifold
apollo dry suit
sherwood SR1 regs (yoke)
Sol computer
apollo bio fins xt

I would like to buy new regulators, fins, mask, miflex hoses.

Could someone help me with some of my choices?

Hollis F1 Fins
hollis m2 or m1 mask
Miflex Low and High Pressure Hoses - no idea of how many and lengths
Submersible Pressure Gauge and depth console to suit twins
Hollis Swivel DC1/212 Regulator x 2
OR
Apeks XTX200 Regulator x 2 + 300 Bar Din conversion kit x 2

Am reading a lot but still a little lost.

I wouldn't get a miflex LP long hose - they are really floaty. Anytime my 5' is not wrapped across my chest it floats up in the air, annoying (got lots of funny pictures of it ). I don't have it unfurled often though so it is not a big deal... but when I got a 7' hose I got a normal hose as I imagine the problem would be worse.

Also the HP miflex are too floppy imho and I actually prefer normal hoses over the HP. I will get a normal HP hose when my miflex HP hoses go.

As far as lengths, well I dunno, what are you planning to set up? Manifold, independents? I don't know hose length for independents but I set up manifolded twins and just used the DIR length hoses. i.e. 7' primary reg, 24" secondary reg, no idea about inflators (drysuit + BC) - I just matched them to my setup at the shop and for SPG 24" I think.

If you are in Australia I recommend checking out DiveTub Home page @ the Dive Tub for Zeagle regs (which are similar to Apeks I believe). They price match overseas stuff and also have very good customer service.

With fins and mask, well it depends on fit. Always try them out first.

What are you diving now?

Why change your current mask if it works?
Convert the regs to DIN no reason for new ones.
SPG only not console.
F1 fins are a good choice.
Hose length depends on set-up if manifolded doubles 7 ft primary, 22-24inch backup, 24-26in spg ( I personally do not like the Milflex HP hoses but YMMV)

My take:

No need to change your mask unless you need a spare. Jet or F1 or slipstream is good for lugging about heavy tanks.

If you are going to do wreck/tech you might need to invest in another tank for deco or nitrox which means another set of regs/spg n hoses.

Tech hose kits:
Scuba Diving Dir & Tech Hoses with reviews on sale

You can get milflex if you want but get them in the correct lengths like the tech hose sets.

I really like Cochran, Large SPG 300 BAR gauges, you might need 2 if you have a deco bottle.
Submersible Pressure Gauges : Tech Diving Limited, a subsidiary of Scuba Training and Technology Inc.

You don't need to change your regs just get din setups although, you can delegate them to deco use if you want something else.

Check n see what sort of regs your local dealer will service reasonably before you get another set.

My doubles/deco setup:
Oxycheq 55lbs Vertex wing
Hacyon bp
2 sets of XTX200 FST DIN
1 sets of DS4/ATX200 DIN
2 sets of Cochran, Large SPG 300 BAR gauges

To save some $, learn how to service your own regs, you can also swap out din n yoke valves by yourself too.
