"Why do you (or others who choose to answer) care about the comparative risk?"

Well, duckbills question is a fair one, sorry if I have been grouchy. We care because of perceptions. If cave diving is accepted and there are certifications for it and yet solo diving which is in several opinions safer if not significantly safer and yet is not recognized. Why does this matter, well, get on a dive boat and explain you don't want to dive with the buddy you just got stuck with. Honestly, most of the time I get "stuck" with a buddy I dive with them because they want to dive also and if I refuse them they might not get to dive but nonetheless there are many times I really would like to dive alone on cattle boats and similar situations. BTW, a cattle boat is any boat other than my own--as I use it---others use it differently. N
