December diving conditions in Kona

Hi guys,

Can anyone tell me if conditions (in general) are pretty decent for diving in December in Kona. I'm thinking about doing a last minute trip to Kona on Dec 5th, and I'd love to do some diving. Any specific web sites that I might be able to dig up the diving conditions at that time? Thanks in advance.

Water will be a little cool in the mid 70s. Check out Jack's Dive Locker they have a pretty good operation. Sort of depends on where your staying on the island.

...in December. However, there is the possibility of a North or North West swell. Luckily there are many wonderful dive sites that are completely protected from a N swell and pretty protected from a NW swell. I would say go for it. Water temp will be about 76 or 77. Most visitors will be in 3mm...but the majority of the dive guides will be in 5 or even 7mm. You will be in Kona during a short period of time between two extremely busy seasons. Thanksgiving week and starting about the second week of December are full already...but the time you would be there may be a tad slower. Even so, I would book your dives very quickly if you really want to go. I can't tell you how many times people arrive and everything is full. They are so bummed and beg to get on...but full is full.
