Can any one ID this coral type? Found at 30m+ in the coasts of Veracruz, Mexico.

If it is black coral, what type?

Whatever it is, I'm not sure it is alive, but it doesn't quite look like the Antipathes species I'm familiar with here. That scum looks nasty.
