I'm a beginner diver (60-70 dives, PADI rescue) and I'm trying to follow/learn
DIR principles. I'm trying to learn as much as possible via internet, GUE online
resources/books. My instructor is also familiar with DIR and she's been helping
me a lot. I'm planning to take a GUE-DIRF class in spring. (Currently PADI DM
class is keeping me busy.)

I do recreational single tank diving with 7mm wetsuit. (No dry suit yet.)
But my setup is probably fully DIR (as far as I know) for single tank diving. My experience is primarily shore (day/night) dives to La Jolla canyon and kelp, and usually deep dives.

I would love to meet DIR divers in San Diego area and dive with
them. I really would love to experience the team concept, practice ascents/descents with the team, shooting SMB's, kick techniques, making
deep stops, OOA practices with long hose/bungee, etc.

Any DIR divers in SD area?

Michael Kane (MHK here on Scubaboard) is holding a GUE-F Class 19-21 Oct, probably using the facilities of San Diego Underwater Adventures. Introduce yourself and sit in on a Class (he usually lets anyone else interested in addition to the enrolled students attend the first Lecture).

There's an awesome core group of GUE trained divers in the San Diego area; several with Tech/Cave training. Unfortunately, you won't find them on ScubaBoard.

You might have better luck posting something the SDUE Yahoo Group. There's not much posting activity these days, but most of the core group members still subscribe.

If you're not opposed to traveling a bit, there's also a small but dedicated group in Orange County. Try posting on Rob's So Cal DIR Yahoo Group or the So Cal Dir sub-forum here on SB.

Good luck.

I'm taking the GUE-DIRF class on Oct19'th!!! I'm very excited...

Good to hear! Are the class dives going to be at La Jolla Shores, or on Catalina Island at Casino Point?

Well, see you in class...
i am gonna be there too...
