I learned today that the instructor who certified the deceased diver is a friend of mine and he is pretty torn up about it even though the diver has done LOTS of dives since that certification. Condolemces to family and friends.

RSdiver:
Diving with a rebreather is very liberating but that doesn't necessarily make them very good buddies. I've seen Rebrether divers just take off on their own...

It's hard to blame rebreather's. People make the choice not the machine. I have seen many OC people take off on their own too.

Does anyone have a copy of this article, I really don't want to register with the LATimes to read it.

Opus and Jdog, if you google "diver recovered wreck california", the article comes up and you don't have to register. It is a shame. I so dislike this type of reporting. The Family has enough to deal with a death, no need to bring up dirty laundry. Despicable! :shakehead

My heart-felt condolences to the family and friends, especially to those aboard the Psalty V. Thank you to Opus for giving us a little "real" info. I hope it stops some of the speculating until the full, true story is released. My sympathies, again, to those involved and family and friends....

I liked the Times article. Made my neck hairs stand up, weird, biblical.
