"Law & Disorder: Diver's death about 40 miles east of St. Augustine is under investigation
By The Times-Union

The body of a missing diver was found Friday after a massive search, but authorities have not identified the man or how he died.

The 46-year-old victim was diving about 40 miles east of St. Augustine, according the U.S. Coast Guard.

Coast Guard rescue crews, with help from the Navy, had been searching for the man, who did not resurface from a planned 45-minute dive Friday morning.

His body was found underwater about 1:30 p.m. by another diver from the commercial fishing vessel Animal Control, the boat that reported the diver missing.

The Coast Guard is investigating how the diver died."

"Coast Guard searching for missing diver

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- The Coast Guard is searching for a missing diver. Around 11 a.m., a call came in that a 45-year-old scuba diver couldn't be found. The Coast Guard is searching an area 50 miles southeast of Mayport and about 30 miles off shore. So far, the diver has not been identified."

Was this OC, or surface supplied? It seems to be a commercial accident..

Commercial fishing boat doesn't equate to commercial diving.

Coast Guard, Navy perform long search

The body of a missing scuba diver off a boat out of St. Augustine was found Friday afternoon after an extensive search by U.S. Coast Guard and Navy crews.

The name of the diver was not being released pending notification of next of kin, said Coast Guard spokesman Donnie Brzuska.

The search for the 46-year-old man began about 11:25 a.m. after he did not resurface while diving from the commercial fishing vessel Animal Control out of St. Augustine. The crew radioed the Coast Guard rescue coordinators at Sector Jacksonville for help after the diver did not resurface from what was supposed to be a 45-minute dive.

The body was located about 1:30 p.m. about 38 miles east of St. Augustine by a second diver off the Animal Control.

The Coast Guard is investigating the cause of the accident. An autopsy will be performed by the Duval County Medical Examiner's Office.

Taking part in the search were rescue crews from Coast Guard stations at Mayport and Clearwater, a helicopter crew from Naval Station Mayport, an airplane crew from the Jacksonville Naval Air Station and the crew of the U.S.S. Halyburton.
