cerich:Can you elaborate?
Kraken covered it pretty well. Very procedural for the most part. One of the things I think pilots and divers have in common is that most gain an early awareness that they could easily kill themselves, and not just because they did something stupid. We know that most accidents result from small problems that are cumulative rather than catastrophic. The Kraken:Pre-flight, post-flight, proper execution of emergency proceedures, logical and deductive thought process in stressful situations = safe landing/ascent.
N@rco$i$:A friend once told me this joke "If the wings move faster than the fusalage it is a helicopter, and therefore unsafe."
RonDawg:I work part-time at my department's Air Support Unit as a Tactical Flight Officer, aka the "observer."
As a TFO it's not my job to fly the helicopter, but we are being taught how to land in case the pilot is somehow incapacitated. Part of learning to land is learning to fly the aircraft properly and safely back to a safe landing area, hence a bit of flight training for me.
But that's the attraction
