Hey Everyone, I'm moving from Hawaii to Las Vegas and was just trying to get a feel for what kind of diving is out there. I've heard about people diving Lake Meade and downstream of the dam, but am curious if I'm going to have to go to the coast to dive or if there is anything around the area. Any help would be greatly apprciated.

Thanks

Hitting Google with

"las vegas" scuba

produced a bunch of hits, including lists that show several shops in the city, too many shops for the diving to be too far away.

Howdy!

Welcome to SB!!
:happywave Put us in your computer's favorites and check in often. This is a great place to learn, compare, argue :argue: Look around our various forums - everything from New-To-Scuba to Instructors-Only to Dive Medicine.

The good news is that flights to LAX are cheap...

don

BTW - Did you set up your Profile, as suggested here: http://www.scubaboard.com/t60416.html I update mine after every trip.

:D

Welcome to the board! Don't know anything about Las Vegas diving but the CA coast is only an hour (by plane) away!

Do they still have the Pirate ship in front of the Treasure Island?

Might try going for a dive there :eyebrow:

I had a nice two-tank boat dive 1 1/2 years ago in Lake Mead with a charter booked through International Scuba Center in Henderson, NV (next to Vegas, on the way to Lake Mead). Here's the link to their site.

FYI-The Pirate Ship is still there.

I moved here in march and I've been to Lake Mead twice. It's nice. I work for MGM and take care of the Fountains of Bellagio. Most of my dives since I have been here have been in "lake" working on equipment. Some of the other divers there have suggested drift diving the colorado river. Havent had a chance to do that yet tho. One of the other engineers I work with is an Asst. Inst., I'll get with her friday and see what she would suggest.
