If I have a decent bottom timer, such as the uwatec digital, do I really need a watch? Is it basically just redundancy in case the bottom timer fails?

thanks,

No you don't need a watch. Your backup is on your buddies wrist.

Having said that they're recommended on GUE courses for timing deco. You don't actually need one for that though either.

Thanks; that's kind of what I thought, but I wanted to make sure.
