I love my Ladyhawk (except for the pocket which drives me crazy).

Wife just recently bought a BC for the first time, after diving in rental gear for the last 10 yrs, did a few dives in various options, ad a BPW set up properly, didn't like so much, liked the Zeagle Lazer, which is no longer available, but bought a Stilletteo which she likes even more than the Lazer

Out of curiosity, what is it about the pocket that drives you crazy?

When you get down to it a good back inflate, like the LadyHawk, is an awful lot like one of the "fancy" BP/W setups with the padded harness. The only real difference is that you can't swap the wing to use doubles.

I'm not sure about the 'fancy padded harness', but one really big difference with a BP/W set up is the rigid plate that couples the tank to the diver's back. This provides stability that's missing from any soft BC, back inflate or otherwise.
