Just came back from Fiji, sorry only land based.I've heard that the land based diving in Fiji is just so so compared to the liveaboards. Can any one comment on this who has done both? Thanks
Hi. I live in Fiji and have done a fair bit of diving around here. IMHO you can't beat spending a week or more on the Nai'a. Best diving I have ever done...period. An amazing boat, very well set up, great crew, awesome food and amazing dive spots. For land based diving my favourite is Beqa Lagoon resort on Beqa island. But that is probably because I live in Suva and it is easy to get to. But diving from Taveuni and Kadavu are also good. I wouldn't bother with the Yasawas or any other islands off Nadi as they are very touristy and expensive and the diving isn't that great. Diving from resorts at Rakiraki are good as they can access the areas near the Bligh passage on good days. Both Wananavu and Volivoli resorts have their pros and cons. Make sure you come in the dry season for better chances of good weather.
