I do not know the answers to those questions. Since the Navy is spending Navy money at the Coast Guard's request, the results will be public, maybe immediately, maybe they will come out in an Admiralty Law Judge review, maybe the record will be sealed until someone files an FOIA.

But I know nothing of the process.

Their reports usually takes 6 months to a year to get finished and released.

If you recall the double fatality under the Arctic ice on the US Coast Guard Cutter Healy a decade ago the time from the incident to public release of the USCG report was ~ 5 months. The USCG also requested a gas and equipment analysis be done by NEDU. Here are the dates from that incident and while 5 months seemed remarkably fast this involved only US government agencies. The report for this incident may take additional time to collect official statements from all the various parties involved.

Healy incident August 18, 2006
NEDU gas analysis September 6, 2006
NEDU Manned equipment test September 27, 2006
NEDU report to US Coast Guard October 6, 2006
USCG final report distribution January 10, 2007

That's actually a big deal.
Since the computer download will contain all the info for the entire 3 dives,,,,,,that's a REALLY BIG DEAL. It may take time,,but this case is so high profile, it will certainly get posted by the end of 2017,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,. It will come.

Im pretty confident that the Navy has evaluated rEvo for their needs, if so the guys that did will be doing the checking. They also can't be accused of bias if it turns out the unit was not at fault.

I agree on the possiblilty of bias if Paul looked at it. That is a valid point.

However just because the Navy may (or may not have) evaluated the Revo doesn't mean the guy that will be doing this evaluation has ever seen one before. Maybe someone like Mel Clark would be better.

Fair enough, but any big name in CCR is going to have a history with Add Helium, one way or the other. Also, the SW handsets are pretty standard to download and the gas analysis etc should be fairly unit agnostic.

As a military investigator in a past life, standard procedure in this case would be to subcontract in a technical specialist for the investigation. This and getting data from the manufacturer usually gets the job done. The military is fairly good with "knowing what they don't know"

And FTR, I do not believe for one second that @paulraymaekers would be biased but with the names and egos involved in this case it would be better to avoid even the appearance of impropriety.

Seemingly so; however there is no evidence that they had any interest in buying it afterwards! Add Helium - Paul, Peter and Claudia had the privilege of... | Facebook

It will be interesting seeing some independent testing done and the results.

Round 2 of testing in April 2016, so a final decision to buy or not can be expected in about 12-18 months, followed by budget requests etc.

Bit premature to say they don't want to buy it yet. The good news is, if they did round 2 testing then they will have a very good grasp of how the unit functions, very few units get through round one.
