Knowing a little bit about anything can be dangerous. Just because you think you can communicate with Deaf customers with a little sign language is just not enough and you do a real disservice to the Deaf community of the Washington, DC area.
If you are interested in or have the opportunity to teach a Deaf consumer to dive, you must engage a Certified Interpreter, Certified through RID (Register of Professional Interpreters) There are plenty of agencies in the DC area that you can contact for services.
