To me, it really depends on how good of shape you're in. I got some standard Cressi-Sub Frog Fins that do the job for me and feel durable. They give me enough push and with not a whole lot of effort.

My father bought some Atomic Split Fins that are great and very nice, but since i'm in Okay shape (not great, but i'm young) and don't have any hip problems like my dad does, i'm okay with my $70 cheaper pair of fins to keep the total equipment price down.

I have some Tusa splits and am happy with them. But I think I am happier with the Scubapro Jets I got off of Ebay for 20 bones. Hard to beat old school!
