Very sad:
Clearwater, Florida -- A teenager died Thursday after encountering distress during a free dive in the Gulf of Mexico, police said.
Tyler B. Pillion of Madeira Beach was out with four friends about eight miles west of Sand Key when he failed to surface while free-diving. His friends brought him to the surface, headed for shore and called for help, police said.
The group was intercepted by the U.S. Court Guard which escorted them to Sand Key Park. Paramedics took him to Morton Plant Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Police said there are no suspicious circumstances, and the death appears to be accidental.
